Three Fantastic Parks for Andover Family Photographers
After living in Andover, Minnesota for several years with three young children and working as a Professional Family Photographer owning ADH Creative Solutions LLC, I have learned that we have access to some pretty beautiful parks that are very close by in the north of Minneapolis suburbs.
Most people love Minnesota because of the amazing lakes. After all, we do have just a couple of them. When you think about where to take family photos it is important to think about the types of photos you are looking to have taken.
Are you a fan of natural backgrounds? Do you want or need to bring any props? Is there an activity that you love to do as a family that allows people to see your personalities? I think it is important to leave yourself with a couple different options which is why I love these three parks so much.
Bunker Hills Park, Andover
My favorite, by far, and also highest requested location is hands down, Bunker Hills Park. It is a wonderful park with a ton of area and different types of scenery.
If you are interested in large trees this park has you covered. It has a small playground, walking paths and a concrete staircase that makes for some really cool photos as well. It has lots of wildflowers and a large picnic pavilion. Ohh, and a tank, yes a TANK!
I have never come across any other park that can say this. It is an Anoka County Regional park so it does require a season pass or a $6 entry fee.
2. Lion's Coon Creek Park, Coon Rapids
If you are looking for a spectacular natural area and a lot of greenery then we have another gem right off Hanson and Highway 10 and that is Lions Coon Creek Park.
This park is beautiful during the summer with lush greenery and offers pretty vibrant fall colors as well. My favorite element of this park is it's bridge! I have always loved family photos on bridges.
Random Tip: This park’s mosquitos are INTENSE during the summer so make sure you pack bug spray or you will get eaten up.
3. Lake George Regional Park, Oak Grove
If you are looking for a mixture of great landscapes, beautiful trees and also want to take some photos in the water than you need to think about a different type of park. Lake George Regional Park has multiple elements which are fantastic for family photos. It has a dock, playground, picnic area and beach. It is also an Anoka County Regional park so it does require a season pass or a $6 entry fee.
So there you have it. Three great parks for Andover family photos.
